Bourbon Pairing Chocolates

An elegant box of 12 chocolate truffles made by Hauser Chocolatier for Wight’s. Includes 3 each of the following truffles, selected for their ability to bring out the flavors in Bourbon and other other whiskies.

  • Grand Marinier® Truffle – Grand Marinier® orange liqueur-infused dark chocolate ganache covered in dark chocolate topped with sugar crystals
  • Caramel Sea Salt Truffle – Soft milk chocolate caramel center covered in dark chocolate sprinkled with sea salt
  • Cinnamon Truffle – Cinnamon spiced milk chocolate ganache covered in milk chocolate sprinkled with dark chocolate paillettes
  • Almond Praline Cup – Gianduja filling in a white chocolate cup with a milk chocolate cap and topped with a whole almond

Chocolate pairs wonderfully with Bourbon and other whiskies. The natural sugars and vanillins from oak barrels, which give Bourbon the majority (around 70%) of its flavor, combine with the richness of different chocolates, caramels, and other flavors to provide a sensational tasting experience.

Below are a few suggestions to help enhance your experience.

  • Dark chocolate can pair nicely with lower proof Bourbons since its bitter flavor can draw out the sweetness of the whisky. Try with Wight’s Bourbon.
  • Milk chocolate pairs nicely with higher proof Bourbons as the sweetness of the chocolate balances the stronger spirit. Try with Wight’s Bourbon and Wight’s Rye Bourbon.
  • Pair a wheated Bourbon with the Almond cup, the smoothness of the spirit goes nicely with the almond and the creaminess of the white chocolate cup. Try with Wight’s Bourbon.
  • Try the Grand Marinier® truffle with Wight’s Rye Bourbon or Wight’s Rye Whisky as the orange liqueur complements the richness of the grain.
